There’s something very clever about the Sun’s use of cutting edge technology to create something so seemingly simple. As Brian says it’s bringing RSS to the non-RSS user and by using Adobe Air is (hopefully) removing any other tech problems that an average reader might come across.

I think this is pretty interesting. Regular folks aren’t using RSS. Feeds are still a tool of the savvy — and there are a lot of people in the world who will use the web, but will never set up Net News Wire.

This little desktop widget presents syndicated content in a way that a certain demographic of the non-savvy might find *ahem* sexy.

Sure, it’s an appeal to the lowest common denominator, but I’m not sure that it’s any more tasteless than the celebrity rubbish that’s published in US newspapers every day.
